RECYCLING THE PLANET. RECLAIMING 100 YEAR OLD WOOD AND SAWDUST TOO!

My neighbours were gutting their 1910 house so I reclaimed all their 100 year old casings, baseboards, plinth blocks and what not and spent a silly amount of time pulling nails, glueing boards and now did the planing to make them lovely. This is straight grain fir! Great stuff. Wow, what gorgeous wood. I plan to restore my casings BACK to bare wood so this will be great. I had two people pop by to say that it was cool to see the wood get new life…. AND I had one neighbour (Jessica) take a bunch of the sawdust for her flower beds! Yahoo… all getting used 🙂

  1. Wow, that’s great; good work! When we lived in Saskatoon and owned a house built in 1916 we had to re-do the roof and the base wood was fir… not one inch of it needed replacing after over 90 years over the house! Amazing stuff!
