Yep it is true, it is absolutely illegal to bring kinder eggs into the US and you will be treated very harshly if you do so. I heard a bit on the radio where someone was being threatened about being fined $2500 each for this egregious affront to the US law. since she had 24 of them as gifts, that meant a fine of $60,000 USD. The US claims it is a choking hazard. So banned, but Canada and most of Europe are not so uptight about that.

So to recap… Guns are fine, chocolate is not. Hmmm….
